Foulsham Baptist Church
Foulsham Baptist Church is looking for a new minister to join our small but busy fellowship. Our previous minister retired over a year ago after 14 years.
Our active membership is 15, but this is not reflective of the number of people regularly engaged in church activities. At our Sunday morning services there are usually 40-45 people, ranging from 0 to 92 in age. The largest age group in the church is over 50. About half are from Foulsham and the surrounding villages and half from further afield. Quite a number travel over 20 miles to attend.
Our Sunday morning service is at 10.45am and is traditional in form. There are childrens’ activities during the service (apart from the monthly all-age service). We serve coffee, tea and cakes afterwards. We also have a more reflective service at 6.30pm on (most) Sunday evenings.
In 2016 we celebrated our 200th anniversary - we organised various celebratory events - we had outside speakers, including Fiona Castle, a children's party and a magic show. We also held a ceilidh and a scarecrow festival, with the aim of involving as many people in the village as possible.
The regular activities run by our members are the Little Acorns Toddler Group, which has about 20 children regularly attending, a cafe open to all on a Wednesday afternoon and a “Life Group” which meets for weekly fellowship and discussion.
The church has a traditional building close to the centre of the village. Our premises include a kitchen and lavatories and are used by Brownies, a watercolour group and a lunch club.
Our village has a population of 1000, a primary school, a shop, a pub and a number of local businesses. It also has a parish church with whom we have a very good relationship. Many of the older children in the village go to Reepham High School and College (rated by Ofsted as good, with an outstanding sixth form). Our previous minister led school assemblies in the village and at Reepham. This is a really lovely part of the world - just over half an hour’s drive from the coast to the north and Norwich to the south east.
We have a website www.foulshambaptistchurch.co.uk.
We are looking for a new minister
who has an evangelical approach
who would develop our work with toddlers and children and local schools
who would be sensitive to the needs of our older people
who would enjoy living in the village and get involved in village life
who would be eager to build on the opportunities we see to spread the word of God in the village and its surrounding area
We can offer
-a salary equal to the recommended stipend for a Baptist Minister.
-the manse (rent free). You would be responsible for all bills apart from repairs. It is a bungalow about 5 minutes walk from the church. It has 3 bedrooms (two are good-sized doubles) and there is another room which could make a small study. There is a garden, garage and off-street parking.
If you would like to ask for more information or apply for the position please contact our secretary, Clare Barter on 01362 680194 or email@example.com
